I am Pat Martin Seehusen and I am the Principal at Beijing World Youth Academy. I have taught DP Maths and TOK for many years and have been DP Coordinator. I feel I know the Diploma Programme very well having also written my masters dissertation on the expectation of the DP Coordinator. Originally from the UK, I have taught in international schools in England, Ukraine, UAE, Libya and this is my second time in China, Shanghai first time and now Beijing. My husband, who is American, and I have been lucky enough to always find posts in the same school.
Like Ray, I only have a few years experience in MYP and have never attended an MYP workshop. My school was authorised to offer the MYP 3 years ago and now we are preparing for monitoring prior to the 5 year evaluation visit. I am looking forward to getting a deeper understanding of the MYP to be able to support my MYP Coordinator better as we move towards monitoring.
